First of all, I'm shocked that I didn't enjoy this book more. It has everything in it I absolutely love. Romantic tension, action scenes, mysteries needing answers, comedic relief, and it was set in time similar to our 19th century. It took me awhile to get it started, and I had to restart it to remember what was happening. Once I got past that though it was still a good read. Wayne was hilarious and my favorite character. Marasi was a strong female character, but I connected with her in her preference not to actually get involved. She still did end up getting involved despite her preference not to, and kicked some serious butt! It was good enough for me to read the next book (because the ending does leave it left open to continue); it just wasn't one of my favorites from my favorite author.
